Genesis 1:24, 26-28; 2:7; Psalm 139:14
A. Genesis 1:24, 26-28; 2:7
When contrasting Genesis 1:24 with 1:26, what is the major difference
between man and the animal kingdom?
(None of the animals were made in God’s image.)
(Contrast “after their kind” v. 24, with “in his own image” v. 26)
The evolutionist says the first life came from matter and complex
chemicals, and that eventually evolved into man. The Bible says God
took the lifeless dead chemicals and matter and formed it Himself into
man, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and he became a
living soul (or, breathing creature).
B. Psalm 139:14
According to Psalm 139:14, is man here by accident for no purpose?
(No, we are fearfully and wonderfully made.)
In Psalm 139:14, the term “wonderfully made” is palah, paw-law’. This
word means: to distinguish (literally or figuratively):--put a difference, show
marvelous, separate, set apart, sever, make wonderfully. Man is
separated, set apart, and made special. Man is different than the rest of
the animal kingdom.
I. Do humans have rats, monkeys, and apes for ancestors?
Textbook statements:
“Primates: monkeys, apes, humans … Primates most likely evolved
from small, insect-eating rodent-like mammals…”
Holt, Rinehart, Winston, Biology – Visualizing Life, 1998, p. 213
Grandpa what a long tail you have!
“Primates, which includes prosimians, monkeys, apes, and humans.”
HOLT BIOLOGY, Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 2006, Pg. 731
New Fossil Find: Ida
"Missing Link" in human evolution?
"This is the first link to all humans," Hurum, of the Natural History Museum
in Oslo, Norway, said in a statement. Ida represents 'the closest thing
we can get to a direct ancestor."
The lemur-like skeleton features primate-like characteristics, including
grasping hands, opposable thumbs, clawless digits with nails, and
relatively short limbs.
"But there's a big gap in the fossil record from this time period, Richmond
noted. Researchers are unsure when and where the primate group that
includes monkeys, apes, and humans split from the other group of primates
that include lemurs."
Lemurs actually came before the ape-like ancestor. Ida is supposed
to be more like humans than the apes that branched off after that?
Don't try to make sence of that, it will only make sense if you are an
evolutionist.
“But all researchers agree on certain basic facts. We know, for example,
that humans evolved from ancestors we share with other living primates
such as chimpanzees and apes.”
Miller and Levine, Biology; 2000, p. 757
(Let’s see boys and girls, how many lies can we find in this one
statement?)
“About 30 million years ago, larger primates, such as monkeys and
apes, evolved. The earliest fossil apes that may be ancestral to
both humans and modern apes…”
HBJ General Science 1989 p. 385
“A famous British anatomist once suggested that the tarsier could be the
ancestor of man … skull sits on top of vertebral column…
sight well developed… extensive use of front limbs… human…
in habitual upright posture”
Biology 1965
II. Evolutionists focus on similarities, and not differences.
“This evolutionary tree shows the close relationship between humans
and apes.”
Holt, Rinehart, Winston, Biology – Visualizing Life, 1998, p. 217
There are thousands of differences between humans and chimps!
Hands, feet, hair, brain, neck, back, hips, etc.
“Some human physical characteristics differ markedly from those of the
chimpanzee, a modern ape.”
MODERN BIOLOGY, Holt, Rinehart & Winston,1999, Pg. 321
III. Similarities that are not found in evolutionary trees.
1. Human Cytochrome C is closest to a sunflower.
2. Human eyes are closest to an octopus.
3. Human blood specific gravity is closest to a rabbit and a pig.
4. Human milk is closest to a donkey.
5. If there were not strong genetic similarities between us and other
organisms, we could only eat other humans.
(This is very important for a food chain!)
IV. Are chimpanzees our closest relatives?
Evolutionists say: Humans are most closely
related to chimps with only a 5% difference in their DNA.
“DNA sequences reveal our close kinship to chimpanzees”
“Genetics can also tell us how different groups of organisms are related
back through time.”
Glenco Biology, 1994
“Since bananas share about 50% of their DNA with humans, does that
mean bananas are half human?”
Roger Patterson – Exposing Evolution, Pg 228
Evolutionists say:
It is inaccurate to say that humans evolved from apes. We should say
all apes and humans have a common ancestor.
“What did the ancestor look like if not like an ape?
Roger Patterson – Exposing Evolution, Pg 228
Four things to consider about genetic similarities:
1. A similarity is not an absolute indication of common ancestry (evolution), but certainly could be used to support a common designer.
2. If human beings were entirely different from all other living things, would this indicate we were probably created by a common designer? No! We might think there were many creators.
3. What would we eat if every other organism on earth were fundamentally different biochemically? We couldn't digest them. Genetic similarities allow us to have a food chain.
4. Of all the animals, chimps are most like humans, so we would expect that their DNA would be most like human DNA.
“So simple even a caveman can do it.”
Are there “missing links”?
Fact # 1
People have always lived in caves!
‘And
daughters.”
Genesis 19:30
“…they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and
caves of the earth.”
Hebrews 11:38
Fact # 2
People still live in caves today.
After Noah’s flood, they didn’t have any houses left, but lots of
caves!
Fact # 3
Most so-called “missing links” fall into one of three categories:
Category # 1 Completely human - no relation to apes.
Facts About Neanderthals:
Used jewelry, used musical instruments, did cave paintings capable
of speech, buried their dead, brain capacity about 200cc, larger
than modern humans.
“Detailed comparison of Neanderthal skeletal remains with those of modern humans have shown that there is nothing in Neanderthal anatomy that conclusively indicates locomotor, manipulative, intellectual, or linguistic abilities inferior to those of modern humans.”
Erik Trinkaus, “Hard Times Among the Neanderthals,” Natural History, 87:10, p. 58
Cro-magnon man was modern in every respect. Why is he listed
as a missing link?
Category # 2 Completely ape – no relation to humans.
Facts about “Lucy”:
1. No similarity in appearance to humans
2. Long arms are identical to chimpanzees
3. Jaws are similar to chimpanzees
4. Upper leg bone is similar to chimpanzees
5. Lucy’s legs were very ape-like
6. Brain size similar to chimpanzee
7. Large back muscles for tree dwelling
Category # 3 Deliberate frauds or hoaxes.
Piltdown Man
based on fossil specimens found by Charles Dawson near
Piltdown, England in 1912. From 1912 to 1953 Piltdown Man
reigned supreme in our textbooks and museums. Scores of books,
pamphlets and articles were published about Piltdown Man.
Piltdown Man is now recognized as one of the most spectacular
and longest enduring frauds in the history of modern science.
Based on two small fragments of a human skull, and a small piece
of an ape’s jawbone, found some distance away. The rest was
plaster of Paris and imagination.
Nebraska Man
Full examination results finally published in Scientific American,
Dec. 16, 1927. Nebraska Man turned out to be neither an ape nor
a man. It actually turned out to be a pig!
“Few sciences produce such abundant returns from so few fragments of fact as
palaeontology.”
Nigel I Lawkes, The Times (London), Sept 23, 1994
“A five million year old piece of bone that was thought to be the
collarbone of a humanlike creature is actually part of a dolphin rib...
The problem with a lot of anthropologists is that they want so much
to find a hominid that any scrap of bone becomes a hominid bone.”
Dr. Tim White (anthropologist, University of California, Berkeley) as
quoted by Ian Anderson in New Scientist, April 28, 1983, p. 199
Ape-men have been deduced from bones which actually belonged
to: ALLIGATOR, HORSE, BEAR, ELEPHANT, DONKEY, and
DOLPHIN.
“I wanted to get a human soul into this ape-like face, to indicate
something about where she was headed.”
John Gurche, sculptor, National Geographic 189(3):96-117, March 1996
BIBLICAL DEFINITION OF FAITH
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
(Hebrews 11:1)
EVOLUTIONIST’S DEFINITION OF FAITH
Now faith is the substance of fossils hoped for, the evidence of links not seen.
There is a reason why they call them “missing” links!
“…the australopithecines known over the last several decades…are now
irrevocably removed from a place in the evolution of human bipedalism,
possibly from a place in a group any closer to humans than to African
apes and certainly from any place in the direct human lineage.”
Dr. Charles Oxnard, The Order of Man,
One by one they have removed Neanderthal, Cro-Magnon Man,
Homo Erectus, and Australopithecines from the human family tree.
The more evidence they find, the more branches are removed from
the tree. They better hope Al Gore doesn’t find out what they are doing;
we certainly can’t afford to lose any more trees. We are almost down
to just the trunk now.
Why are they trying so hard to find a missing link?
It is the only way to get rid of God!
Where does the “Stone Age” fit into the Bible?
The people after the flood could not go to the hardware store to buy
a hammer or shovel. There were no hardware stores!
The “Stone Age” was after the flood when they got off the ark and
faced a devastated world and some bad people were banished-driven
out from society.
“You are an animal and share a common heritage with earthworms.”
Biology: Visualizing Life Holt, 1994
“And God said, Let us make man in our image,… So God created man
in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female
created he them.” Genesis 1:26-27
The Bible says God made us in His image.
Our God is not a monkey!
